To help our community make an informed choice at the polls, all candidates running for the Berwick School Board seats were invited to submit a brief personal introduction. Each candidate was asked to share who they are, their history in the community, and what motivates them to serve on the School Board. The statements below are presented as submitted. Thank you to our candidates for their willingness to serve the MSAD #60 community!
"My name is Mathew Roy and I am running for the MSAD 60 School Board because I believe strong schools are built through accountability, thoughtful planning, community involvement, and keeping students at the center of every decision.
My family and I have proudly called Berwick home since 2009. For the last 17 years, my wife and I have raised our three boys in this district and built our lives here. Through youth sports, scouting, mentoring, volunteering, supporting local teams through our business, and simply being active parents, I have had the opportunity to connect with many families throughout our community and gain a firsthand understanding of both the strengths and challenges facing our schools.
Professionally, I have spent more than 27 years owning and operating businesses. Today my focus is Stoneage, a commercial hardscaping company serving communities throughout the eastern United States. My work requires leadership, budgeting, logistics, contract negotiation, project planning, staffing, safety compliance, and long term strategy. Those experiences have taught me how important communication, accountability, and responsible decision making are.
I decided to run because I believe our district benefits from leadership that brings practical experience, listens to the community, and remains focused on outcomes. School board decisions affect students, staff, families, facilities, and taxpayers. Those decisions deserve thoughtful review, transparency, and long term planning.
I believe education should prepare students for success in whatever path they choose. College, trades, military service, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness all have value and students should be supported in reaching their goals.
If elected, my focus will be supporting educational excellence, responsible budgeting, accessibility, and helping ensure our district continues creating opportunities for students while remaining accountable to families and the community.
I believe parents, educators, administrators, board members, and community members all play an important role in student success. I care deeply about our schools and I want to contribute in a meaningful way to the future of MSAD 60.
I would be honored to earn your support."
