MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING June 4, 2020
A meeting of the Board of Directors was held virtually on June 4, 2020 at 7:00 pm, with all members present except Ms. Schaeffer, Rebecca Beal, Rebecca Hopper and Travis Doiron. There were 7 people in the audience.
Ms. Mallett, Berwick Board Member shared the explanatory statements regarding public input.
Public Input: None at this time
The minutes of May 21, 2020 were reviewed. Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Corliss to accept the minutes of May 21, 2020. All members voted in favor and the motion passed. 6-0.
Ms. Beal entered the meeting at 7:09pm.
No student report today.
Ms. Austin explained the need to rescind to call the meeting, call the warrants and call the vote. She continued to explain the virtual hearing process. The meeting will not be an actual vote, but an opportunity to ask questions. This process will include the SRRF. This process has been mandated by the State. Ms. Mallett asked about what the format will actually look like. That will be determined in the near future.
Ms. Mallett read the Vote to Approve Revised Budget Format, Call the Warrants and Call the Vote Statement:
Ms Neuburt made the motion and Ms Potter seconded all members voted and the motion was passed 6-0.
Darcy Goulet, PE teacher at Noble High School Sabbatical Presentation. She revisited her proposal and how she has spent the last year working on District wide standards. Ms Goulet will meet with Shannon Swiger to talk about the curriculum.
Ms. Austin told the Board that Laura Cashell, Tri Town Book Mobile Director, received a Diverse Book Finder Grant for $300. Ms Mallett suggested that Ms Cashell work with North Berwick community member Christine Dudley.
Ms. Austin asked for approval for the superintendent to hire all staff except the administrators for summer from June 5th - August 30th. Ms Potter made the motion to approve and it was seconded by Ms Beal. All members voted and the motion was passed. 6-0.
Ms. Beauvais made the nomination of Melissa Roberts for Hussey School Principal. Ms. Mallett sat in on the interview board and spoke highly of Ms. Roberts. Ms. Beal made the motion and Ms. Corliss seconded the motion. All members voted and the motion carried. 6-0.
Ms. Austin nominated Aaron Moore as the next MSAD #60 Assistant Athletic Director. Ms. Austin spoke of Mr. Moore’s experience and his dedication to the Athletic Department. Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Corliss, all members voted and the motion was passed. 6-0.
Ms. Austin nominated new hires in one motion: Desiree Labbe, Hanson Gr 2, Jaime Rae, Knowlton Music, Kelsey Davison- Hussey Gr 3, Tyler Anderson- NHS Math Gr 10 and Jennifer Murphy Elks Gr 4. Ms. Neubert made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Beal to approve the above hires as provided. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Other: Ms. Austin spoke about senior cap and gown pick up. Staff and Administration were excited to see students.
Ms Mallett would like to talk about plans for the fall and have regular updates from the Planning Team Committee. Ms. Austin spoke of the committee, composed of 15-20, who meet every Wednesday. The charge of this group is to look at various options for education in the fall.
It was decided the next meeting will be June 25, 2020. There is a budget hearing on June 23, 2020 at 6:30 pm.
Ms. Beal made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Neuburt to adjourn. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
