MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING OF May 21, 2026
Current Board Members-
North Berwick- Lauren Janousek, Kate Whalen, Richard DeCato
Berwick- Alison Herlihy, Marissa Tasker, Peg Wheeler
Lebanon- Nancy Sewell, Jeridene Basko, Melissa Cyr

A meeting of the Board of Directors was held in person at Noble Middle and High School on May 21, 2026 at 7:05 pm with all members attending in person except Ms. Sewell, Ms. Janousek and Ms. Herlihy
There were 10 in the audience.
Pledge of Allegiance
Ms. Wheeler read the public input statement.
Public Input:
The following people spoke in public input in the first session:
Mr. Matthew Leggett of Lebanon
Ms. Janousek entered the meeting at 7:13 pm.
Minutes:
Ms. Janousek made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to accept the minutes of April 30, 2026 as amended. All members voted in favor except Ms. Tasker and Ms. Cyr who abstained and the motion passed.
Audit RKO
Ms. Jen Connors of Runyon Kersteen Ouellette shared the audit update/financial overview for the 2025 school year.
Ms. Herlihy entered the meeting at 7:23 pm.
Title 20-A Section 1485(4) Authorization to Transfer Funds
Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve authorization for the transfer of funds. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Pursuant to section 1485(4) of Title 20-A, the Superintendent of Schools be authorized to transfer not more than 5% of the total appropriation for any cost center in the current fiscal year operating budget to another cost center or among other cost centers, provided that the total current fiscal year operating budget shall not be increased by such transfers.
Financial Summary April 2026:
Ms. Denise Van Campen, Business Manager, shared with the board the financial summary for the General Fund as of April 30, 2026. Board members asked some clarifying questions and Ms. Van Campen responded.
School Properties Disposition
Ms. Brigette Dumont, Technology Director, shared with the board the fact that we have some old surplus devices and equipment that we will be putting up for sale based on policy DN which is School Properties Disposition. Ms. Dumont explained the policy, shared that we have a break down of items to be liquidated and that we will be offering them to municipalities first and then staff, etc, per the policy. This is just a notification that we are in this process.
Policy First Reading:
Policy EBBD- Temperature Guidelines for Schools
Policy JFCK-Student Use of Cellular Telephones and Other Electronic Devices
Policy JFCK-R Student Use of Cellular telephones and Other Electronic Devices School Rules
This was considered to be a first reading.
Policy Second Reading:
JICK-E1 Bullying Reporting Form
Ms. Herlihy made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to approve JICK-E1 as rewritten and amended. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
JICK-E2 Bullying Bullying Investigation and Response Form
Ms. Cyr made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Herlihy to approve JICK-E2 as rewritten and amended. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
JICK-R Bullying Administrative Procedures
Ms. Cyr made the motion and it was seconded by Ms.Wheeler to approve JICK-R as rewritten and amended. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Graphic Conflict vs Bullying
The board supported putting the graphic on the website and sharing it out with students and parents.
Employment:
New Hire
Nomination of Noble Middle and High School Assistant Principal:
William Danaher- Noble Middle and High School Assistant Principal.
Ms. Janousek made the motion and it was seconded byMs. Wheeler to approve Mr. Danaher as the new Assistant Principal of Noble Middle and High School. All members voted in favor and the motion passed:
Ashley Swan-Chabot- Hanson School Teacher Grade 2, and has a degree from Southern New Hampshire University. Ms. Cyr made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to approve Ms. Swan-Chabot. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Riley Louder- Noble Intermediate School Teacher Grade 6 Math, and has a degree from University of Maine, Orono. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Janousek to approve Ms. Louder. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Retirement
Jamie Webber- Noble Middle and High School Special Education Teacher. Ms. Webber is finishing her 22nd year with MSAD 60. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms.Cyr to approve the retirement resignation of Ms. Webber with congratulations. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Rhonda Tweed- Vivian E Hussey School Kindergarten Teacher. Ms. Tweed finishing her 25th year in education and 11th year with MSAD 60. Ms. Herlihy made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve the retirement resignation of Ms. Tweed with congratulations. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Resignation
Jessica Spaulding- Assistant Principal Hanson School. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve the resignation of Ms. Spaulding. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Shelby Hagen-North Berwick Elementary School/ Knowlton School Music Teacher. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve the resignation of Ms. Hagen. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Angelina St. Paul- Noble Middle and High School Grade 7 Math Teacher. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve the resignation of Ms. St. Paul. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Transfer:
Elyse Galeucia: Hanson School half time assistant principal. Ms. Cyr made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to approve the transfer of Elyse Galeucia to the Hanson School. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Superintendent Update:
Community engagement and pathways to success:
Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent went to North Berwick to the library to do a budget overview question and answer period.
Assistant Superintendent and Business Manager went to the Select board in Berwick to present the budget and provide opportunity for questions and answers.
The next session is going to be with the North Berwick Select Board and that's June 2nd.
The Hussey School recently hosted the third grade students and their Light House Projects.
Adult ed graduation is next Thursday on the 28th.
The final exams for our seniors begin next week and tomorrow is the last SRTC session for our seniors.
Step up day for some of our Hansen school is going on June 2nd to visit the Knowlton school. So their third grade is going to visit the fourth grade. North Berwick, I believe, already went.
We had the semiformal last Saturday evening and it was well attended and everybody was safe and that's always a plus thing. And Monday night we had the academic achievement night at NMHS.
Other:
Ms. Janousek updated the board on the ELKs concert this evening and the NBES concert on Wednesday evening. Stupendous! :)

Executive Session 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(A) Evaluation of Officials/Appointees/Employees:
Ms. Janousek made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Wheeler to go into executive session pursuant to Executive Session 1 MRSA 405§(6)(A) Evaluation of Officials/Appointees/Employees. All members voted in favor and the motion passed. In at 8:24 pm. Out at 8:57 pm.
