MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING OF December 18, 2025
Current Board Members-
North Berwick- Lauren Janousek, Kate Whalen, Joshua Tabor
Berwick- Alison Herlihy, Marissa Tasker, Peg Wheeler
Lebanon- Nancy Sewell, Jeridene Basko, Melissa Cyr

Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Basko to go into executive session for Executive Session Pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A §405(6)(E)Discussion of Legal Rights and Duties of School Uni. All members voted in favor and the motion passed. In at 5:57 pm. Out 7:34 pm.
A meeting of the Board of Directors was held in person at Noble Middle and High School on December 18, 2025 at 7:41 pm with all members attending.
There were 13 in the audience.
Pledge of Allegiance
The Vice Chair read the public input statement.
Public Input:
Mr. Matthew Legget of Lebanon shared his public input regarding education.
Mr. Tabor asked about the evaluation of the effectiveness of the literacy program and asked to add it as a future agenda item for discussion.
Minutes:
Ms. Herlihy made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Basko to accept the minutes of December 4, 2025 as amended. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Financial Summary November
Ms. Denise Van Campen, Business Manager, shared with the board the financial summary for the General Fund as of November 30, 2025. Board members asked some clarifying questions and Ms. Van Campen responded.
Donation: Charles S. Hatch Post #79 American Legion Berwick, $500 to the Backpack Program
The district has received a donation from for $500 Charles S. Hatch Post #79 American Legion Berwick for the MSAD 60 Backpack Program. So appreciated! Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Janousek to accept the donation of $500 with thanks. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Policy First Reading
JKAA- Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion
JKAA-R Procedures on Physical Restraint and Seclusion
This was considered to be a first reading.
Policy Second Reading
AC- Non Discrimination/ Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Tasker to approve AC as amended.
Mr. Tabor asked for a roll call vote:

Melissa Cyr, Jeri Basko, Josh Tabor, Nancy Sewell voted against and the motion passed.
ACAA-Unlawful Harassment and Sexual Harassment of Students
Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Tasker to approve ACAA as amended.
Mr. Tabor asked for a roll call vote:

This one will be brought back to the committee to finalize the document.

Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Tasker to approve ACAB as amended.

JLCD- Administering Medication to Students
This one will be brought back to the committee to finalize the document.
Employment:
Resignation
Abigail Ackley- NIS Gr 6 Writing Teacher. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Tasker to approve the resignation of Ms. Ackley. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Jeannie MacDonald-Johnson -Assistant Director of Adult Education. Ms. Wheeler made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Cyr to approve the resignation of Ms. MacDonald-Johnson. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Superintendent Update:
Ethan Byram selected for the Albert H Small Normandy Institute.
UNH welcomed NMHS students to the Life Science Program at UNH.
NHS animal science program.
Noble Intermediate School Lighted Hallway
NB Fire Department visited NMHS.
Elementary schools working with continued partnership with the Cromwell Center.
Congratulations to Kayleigh Boucher for being the first paid Girls Varsity Wrestling coach in Maine history. Our girls wrestling team has a full schedule and they just competed in the first ever SMAA Girls Wrestling Dual meet with Massabesic. The team continues to make Maine state history.
Boys and Girls Basketball are into the bulk of their seasons as well as Wrestling and Indoor Track & Field. The individual swimmers who Co-Op with TA have their first meet of the season this week.
The athletic department is once again excited to host the Class A South Regional Wrestling Tournament as well as the Southwestern Maine Activities Association Competition Cheer tournament.

Public Input:
Chelsea Hewitt updated the board on the 7th and 8th grade PTOs fundraising for the Washington DC trip and other PTO updates.
Ms. Jennifer Dillon, of Lebanon, shared her concerns about public education in the district.

Ms. Janousek made a motion and it was seconded by Ms. Herlihy to adjourn the meeting. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
