MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING October 1, 2020


A meeting of the Board of Directors was held virtually and in person at Noble High School on October 1, 2020 at 6:30 pm, with all members present except Mr. Doiron. Virtually present: Ms. Manly, Ms. Schaeffer, Ms. Hopper and Ms. Hagenbuch.

Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Corliss to accept the minutes of September 3, 2020. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.


Ms. Corliss made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Potter to accept the donations as listed: Mick Bodyworks & Truck Repair $500 to the Noble Community Lunch Program. Raymond Pellietier Jr Inc

All members voted in favor and the motion passed.


The Superintendent provided an update on some of the school construction projects through the SRRF program. Asbestos abatement work was completed on the Noble Middle School over the summer. The sprinkling of the Hussey School, Hanson School and the North Berwick Elementary School is in a place of going out to bid so that if we happen to need to go into the remote mode district wide, we will be able to do some work ahead of the summer timeline.


Denise VanCampen, district business manager, gave an update to the school board.


The Superintendent shared the resignation of Ms. Eva Hamel. Ms. Austin noted that Ms Hamel has been an asset to the Central Office and she will be missed.


The Superintendent shared with the board that we had several teacher new hires. Sara Millett for our remote social studies at the Noble Middle School academy. Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Corliss to approve the nomination of Ms. Millett as the remote social studies teacher at NMS. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.


The Superintendent that shared an update regarding absenteeism for staff and students.


Remote academy update… grades K-5 has 299 students enrolled, grades 6/7 has 99 students and grades 8-12 has 247 students. Two teachers per grade level K, 1, 3, and 4th. Three teachers at grades 2 and 5. Ms. Shannon Swiger has overseen the remote academy in grades K-5. We have been working on professional development for those remote teachers.


Focus has been on literacy and numeracy. Additional social emotional lessons in the coming weeks. We will also add in other opportunities for other specialist activities as we go forward.


A remote survey was sent out to parents, of which 176 K-5 parents participated. The responses were overwhelmingly positive.

Ms. Hagenbuch asked about masking on buses and bus monitors are still needed throughout the district.


Ms. Neubert asked for an update at the next board meeting regarding the specialist plans for each of the buildings and consistency across the district.


Ms. Potter made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Corliss to adjourn. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
