MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING OF September 22, 2022
Current Board Members-

Lebanon- Victoria Travers, Stephanie Hagenbuch, Nancy Neubert
A meeting of the Board of Directors was held in person in North Berwick, Maine on September 22, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. with all members attending except Ms. Manley, Ms. Travers and Ms. Neubert. There were 10 in the audience.
The vice chair shared the public input statement.
Public Input: None at this time.
Ms. Hagenbuch made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Janousek to approve the minutes of September 8 as presented. All members voted in favor except Mr. Doiron, who abstained, and the motion passed.
Ms. Heather Brown shared with the process of the fundraiser that she created on her own and was able to raise $1600 for the music and art programs within the Lebanon schools. She felt very strongly that this was a positive community event for Lebanon and for the schools. The board chair thanked her deeply for the generosity of her efforts and presented her with a unique plaque and a fall mum. It was a wonderful positive display of community support.
Ms. Lovejoy made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Janousek to accept the recommendation of the Educational Materials Challenge Committee to keep the book You Got This by Cornelius Minor in the MSAD 60 faculty resource collection of the library according to board policy IJJ. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
The Superintendent then updated the board regarding attendance over the last two weeks:
Student: 89% to 98%
Staff: 90% to 100%
We still have vacancies in drivers, educational technicians, and other support staff positions. Substitutes are better than they were a year ago. We will continue to seek applicants.
She updated the board regarding the Nov. 20th US Track and Field Cross Country event here at Noble High School. This is a first time event for our district that could potentially lead to ongoing events.
Third Policy Second Reading: IHBAI: SPECIAL EDUCATION INDEPENDENT EVALUATION POLICY The policy committee met on 9/21 to discuss the policy and set the price point for an approved outside evaluation.
Ms. Hagenbuch made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Lovejoy to approve policy IHBAI: Special Education Independent Evaluation Policy as amended. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Employment Update:
Maurice Stickney, Hussey School 2nd grade teacher, has tendered his resignation. Ms. Lovejoy made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Hagenbuch to accept the resignation of Maurice Stickney. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
Other Business:
The Superintendent shared with the board the request of our Spanish Faculty at Noble High School to reinstate the Costa Rica trip in the spring of 2023. She gave the highlights of the trip and activities that students would be able to participate in. Mr. Doiron made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Lovejoy that the Costa Rica trip be reestablished for this current school year. All members voted in favor and the motions passed.
The Superintendent shared with the board policy KHB, Advertising in the Schools as we now have a digital platform to provide supportive advertising. The policy needs to be updated with the digital language.
Delegate for the MSBA School Board Delegate Assembly. Who would like to represent the board this year. Board members discussed what this meant and they will take some time to think about it and hope to get a candidate to sign on at the next board meeting.
Hanson Elementary School fencing… can we look into the broken section and get it fixed?

Mr. Doiron made the motion and it was seconded by Ms. Lovejoy to adjourn the meeting. All members voted in favor and the motion passed.
